ABOUT KACL
The Korean American Citizens League (KACL) is a civil rights organization working to secure the rights of the Korean American (KA) community and of all minority communities.
KACL began as a handful of individuals with a vision of a more empowered community. Its founding members set out to create an organization that secures the civil rights of the community from the inside.
MISSION The Korean American Citizens League is an organization that works to secure and maintain the rights and privileges of the Korean American community through education and empowerment.
WHAT WE DO KACL will perform work in the following primary areas:
Educating the community about their rights and privileges. KACL works within the Korean American community to proactively empower the community by educating about the rights secured by the laws of United States and about citizenship and the rights that come with it. KACL does this through: implementing voter registration campaigns, translating the Official Voter’s Pamphlet into the Korean language, and developing non-partisan programs to increase civic and legislative awareness.
Promoting and securing civil rights. KACL serves as a watchdog organization for violations against the community. KACL builds coalitions with other minority interest groups to provide a collaborative movement for civil rights of all underprivileged and underrepresented communities.
Providing community leadership development and promoting civic opportunities. Major goals of KACL include teaching leadership, promoting civic opportunities within the community, and utilizing the younger generation to mobilize social change. Educating youth and teaching the community how to effectively lead and serve will help KACL secure the rights of the entire community.
