KACL PROJECTS

Voter Registration Drives:
KACL members attend various community events to distribute materials and educate the community about the importance of voting.

Bilingual Voter’s Guide: KACL develops and distributes a bilingual voters’ guide for Oregon’s KA community. KACL’s first voters’ guide, produced for the November 2004 General Election, was the first guide in Oregon that is bilingual for the Korean-speaking community.

Community Partnership Program: KACL continuously works with other KA and civil rights organizations to create a collaborative movement to secure civil rights. KACL coordinates Community Partnership Summits and Korean American Leadership Summits to discuss issues of importance for all communities ranging from emergency preparedness, juvenile justice, community services and civil rights.

Emergency Medical Information Project (EMIP): KACL has partnered with KA organizations to create medical information cards that provide emergency-response personnel, assisting older KA patients and those with limited English abilities, to treat patients when communication is limited or non-existent. These medical information cards will be available in wallet-size or to be posted in their residence.

Oregon Korean American Youth (OKAY) Conference: KACL and its partners have plans to organize a youth conference that focuses on KA identity, civic engagement, and bridging the generational divide.
